just watch where you step. Snakes don't want to see you any more than you want to see them. They'll first try to stay hidden (unfortunately sometimes that works too well and they get stepped on, hence watching your step), then they will try to escape, and if they end up cornered most snakes will try to intimidate you (rattling, hissing, hooding up etc...) and biting is usually the absolute last resort (especially in venomous species, venom is costly to produce in biological terms, why would they want to waste it on a passer-by when they need to use it to subdue prey?). Where do you live that you think you may come across a king cobra? In general, as long as you don't step on one or stick your hand into a hole/bush without looking venomous snakes won't be a problem... if you do come across one just walk calmly away in the opposite direction. That's all there is to it:-)

King Cobras are getting very rare & hard to find. While they will stand their ground & defend their turf , they, like any other snake(except the mamba) are easy to get away from. Just back slowly away while facing the snake. Kings will stand & flair their hood and make a growling/hissing sound that should make them easy to spot & avoid.

Unless you live in certain parts of the world, AND are REALLY unlucky, don't sweat it. This is NOT a commonly seen reptile, and does not often attack humans.

In those parts of the world, the bigger risks are the smaller forest and Indian cobras which tend to get stepped on and lash out in response.

Stand dead still - it takes guts - and wait for it to move away. It is just as eager to get away from you.
