I have fabulous neighbours - we have a blether across the fence and occasionally a cup of tea, and now and again we have a barbeque which is a nice, simple way of getting to know one another without being over familiar.

If any of us is away, we keep an eye on their house, water the plants, take out the bins etc. Never lend or borrow money, although a cup of sugar is ok. Never get drunk with neighbours unless you are family or close friends prior to moving into ur home.

If neighbours are intolerable, and speaking doesnt get u anywhere nip it in the bud quickly by involving the anti-social behaviour team and the police - accept nothing less as it is vital that you are able to live in your home in peace.

What makes a good neighbor? Someone who is considerate of others. Watches out for suspicious people and keeps an extra eye out when the neighbor is on vacation. Says hi and makes small talk (acknowleges your existence). Doesn't have loud parties or music on late. If it's snowing and they have the means (ie. snowblower) they help you or vice versa. Clean. Don't come onto your property without permission.

on one side we can have Uma Thurman ( who has developed an unfortunate condition where she has become allergic to clothing and must spend 8 hours a day in the garden)

and on the other well the neighbours taht we already have
they are quiet and courteous their house is always tidy and their children always quiet.
They would do anything for us such as watering the garden and keeping an eye when we are away.

A good neighbour is like a good firend and a family member all tied up in one. Someone who is there when you need them but knows when not to be. someone you know you can trust. If you have a neighbour like this you are very lucky.
