As for the benefits:
1) When you ask a question (which costs 5 points), you might find the answers you really need. Some people ask about the name of a song or a movie. Some ask legal questions. Some ask medical questions... Many get their answers. Some people don't care about the points and they ask game questions like "What is the Birth Name of Alan Alda) or game show questions from Match Game, Jeopardy...) If you choose a best answer for questions that you asked, you get 3 points back so you only lost 2 points overall.
2) You can ask questions on almost any subject of interest, provided that it is not offensive and against the rules.
3) Some people have built strong friendships with other users in this forum.

You also benefit by Answering questions (2 points for every time you share your knowledge, sense of humor, or point of view) and you can vote for best answers (one point per vote) as well as rate best answers (one point per rating).

The more points you get, the more questions you get to ask, the more answers you get to vote for and the more answers you get to rate.

It has become addicting for some people.

I hope you enjoy Yahoo Answers!

when you answer a question, you get 2 points, when you ask a question you loose 5 points. if one of your answers becomes a best answer, you earn 10 points. every time you visit, you get 1 point. you can ask 10 questions per day, there is also a limit on how many answers you can give. the rules and regulations are on the link on the left that says "community guidelines". if you see a question, answer, or statement that is abusive or dosent follow the guidelines, click on "report abuse" under the person's picture. the number of points you have is near the top left of the screen. to see a list of the questions you answered or asked, click on "My Q&A" near the top right of the screen. hope this helps.

But dear friend, you get nothing from these points.

You go through the questions - you will probably get to know many things that you do not know of.

When you see you a question you know the answer for, you can chose to help someone by nicely answering that question.

In the process you will any way get to know how the points system works. But that is no big deal.

In anycase, that information can be found from here:

You lose 5 (yes 5! ) points if u ask a question.u get 2 for answering , 2 for voting as best answer & 10 (I guess) for being voted as best answer. It's wonderful to get to interact with different people & helping them answer their queries!
