Some skeptics say that speaking in tongues is not real because the speaker is not stressing syllables.
Is there really a need for official-type grammatical or inflectional structure in "tongues" if different sounds have harmonic, resonant andor spiritual meanings?

Speaking in tongues is just one of the possible "gifts" God will give someone who is filled with the Holy Spirit. When someone speaks in tongues there has to be someone there to understand what is said, if no one can understand what God is trying to say through this person who is speaking in tongues then I would question if it is real or not.

Speaking in tongues most simply put is speaking in another language. To some it might sound like jibberish and nonsense but then again Chinese sounds that way to me.

Skeptics also do not understand "Faith" either...
Speaking in tongues, from my understanding, is a spiritual gift from God (there are many) and not everyone is gifted with this. However, another spiritual gift is the "understanding of tongues" because not everyone who speaks in tongues knows what they are saying, but someone with the gift of understanding may translate. speaking in tongues is a form of language to speak to God. For example, I'm using english now to talk to you and chinese to communicate with a person from China.

Everyone has their own way in speaking tongues, it all depends on what and how God wants you to say it.

Not sure if you read your bible but when the apostles spoke in tongue it was not something that had to be translated....remember in the bible when they spoke in tongue the men were astonished because "every man understood in his own "language" " and speaking in tongue is not some type of connection with speaking to God....what ever you language is you can speak to God.

I was a Pentacostal for years, and speaking in tounges is symbolic for angels speaking through us humans, the will of God, one person speaks in tounges, and another translates. It happens automatically in a Church such as Pentacostals, and the speaker of the tounges, lets it flow out in accordance to God's will. There is no official way to speak tounges, except by letting God's will be done in your life, this all put together, is being filled with the Holy Ghost whom lets you speak in new tounges and prophecy.
