Our cat will seldom come when her name is called. However she will respond when we whistle for the dog. We call her name, then whistle for the dog and she comes running. Ok, OK, so she is a little confused. She thinks she is part dog.....lol. But this is true.

I have a cat named Ms Kitty and she has always come to her name for as long as I can remember and she is 8 years old now. If I am upset with her I call her by our last name also, she also knows it or just knows the tone of my voice because she will sit and look like she knows she did something wrong. At that moment she won't come to me, she just sits and looks at me like she is saying I am sorry I won't do it again. Then when I call her by her first name she comes to me again.
Right now I am having a hard time typing this because she has decieded that she must help me.
I sure hope you have a long and loving life with your cat as I have had with mine. She is my best friend. The one I talk to about everything. I give her a lot of love and in return she gives me all of her love.
Just tell your cat you love them and mean it. Shower them with love and next thing you know they will be coming when you call them too.

Yes, my cat “Bugsy” does come when you call his name. I think it all depends how long you had or have your pet and #1 is how you treat your pet. I guess you can kind of compare it to a dog. Comparison is when you call your dog by there name they can recognize it and come running to you all excited (this is only if you treat them good – but if you are a mean owner and they hear there name they run and hide)
This goes with cats as well, when they hear there name they know they are either going to get food/water, get a treat or they are just going to be smothered by it’s owner (this is only of coarse if the owner treats there cat with love) Hope that made sense

ALL of the cats I've had came when thier names were called. As for last names, that was a given when at the vet.

We have 4 cats that come to their names. They also come to a hand signal. No last names though. That's a little much.

Yes, all 4 of my cats come when called by thier name, nickname and of course "kitty kitty" they also all come to a different sound I make for each of them, one likes a squeak...etc etc.

One of my cats has a last name.. O'Malley like the cat from Aristocats (disney movie)

The rest all go by my last name!

None of my cats come when called. Their last names would be my husband's last name.

my cat is deaf so it doesn't come when called but it sits when i point at it and if i hold my palm up he will stay until i motion to him. i've trained him to do a couple of other things too. cats can be trained just most of them feel they are above it. the cat's name is f.c. i also have a dog called ned kelly, named after a famous australian.

we are clever and self conscious with the aid of fact we've a strategies. this is the place thought is residing. No strategies, no strategies, no expertise. Human psychopaths have some thing incorrect with their brains as is actual wide-spread with the aid of a lobotomy. not extra psycho, purely an incredible fuzzy vegetable.
