I'm fed up with so many people in the US, including Bush, defending Israel's actions. Have a look at this and tell me this wasn't targeting civilians. Were these children a threat? Makes me sick to my stomach.

I knew it would be a matter of moments before twats like 'longgunr' crawled out from under their rocks.
I presume you don't have children of your own. Maybe then you might understand. And I know the whole bloody history. I am NOT excusing Hezbollah. I am condemning both sides. Hezbollah fire indiscriminate and un-targeted missiles over the border, granted, but Israel KNOW WHAT THEY'RE DOING and they're doing it anyway.
And tell me something, if you're seeking shelter in a building, you're hardly going to run outside with your kids to pick up the latest memo that may or may not have fallen out of an Israeli warplane. And you still stand side by side with your brainless fellow gun-toting beer buddies saying "well they did warn them. Kids shouldn't have been there."
Imbecile
People like you make me almost as sick as the bombers themselves.

And in response, yet again to longtwat, only the ignorant and inhuman cannot see the injustice in this. I know the facts, I doubt you do, because if you did, then I would just have to conclude that you're just stupid.
The facts:
The argument goes that Hizbollah uses civilian property for cover. Disregarding the fact that this hardly is an excuse, and disregarding the fact that Israeli troops themselves use civilian homes for cover, Israel is supposed to use 'precision targeting'. Israel has said that rockets were fired from "somewhere in Qana". No rocket was fired from that three-storey house that was completely destroyed crushing 56 people including 34 children (aged 1 to 14) while they took shelter in the basement.
Second argument goes that they we warned by first dropping leaflets.
Twice now, civilians have left their homes after obeying Israeli commands only to be shot down as they fled. The roads and bridges have been bombed. Thousands are trapped.
ALL. FACT.

Thing is, if the US or Israel or even Britain invade/attack a country, it's ok, because they "are fighting against terrorism". When the invaded countries DEFEND themselves, it's considered terrorism...
God/Allah/Buddha/12 Gods of Olympia-Ancient Rome etc etc save us from those who fight terrorism with twice us much terrorism.
This whole thing is just ridiculous. And, apparently, the US did not understand a single thing from September 11. US and co. need to stop behaving like dictators of the world.
Wish I'll live to see this...

This isn't unique. Israel has carried out operations like this in Lebanon before. In 1996 during the Israeli occupation of Lebanon the Israelis conducted Operation "Grapes of Wrath" which resulted in, among other things, the death of 106 civilian refugees at the United Nations base at Qana.
Hezbollah is not listed as a terrorist organisation by many European nations (it forms part of the democratically elected government), but the military arm of it is. If this military wing in the south of Lebanon had been disbanded as was suggested strongly to Lebanon in the past, this situation might have been avoided. But this has not happened due to Israel's occupation of 35 square kilometres of currently unusable land which was previously Lebanese before the Lebanon-Syria war and which has been recognised by the UN as belonging now to Israel.
I normally don't answer questions like this as the situation is actually far too complex, but the military wing of Hezbollah does disperse its weaponry close to or within many civilian areas in the knowledge that when civilians are killed it becomes international news, and Israel seems to have little compunction about bombing civilian targets. This isn't the first "atrocity" commited in the Israel-Lebanon war by either side, and it won't be the last.
Can anyone cite a conflict post-1945 which hasn't seen civilian casualties? War isn't a game, which is why anyone with any common sense should think deeply about the ultimate consequences of declaring war. Not every nation has the sanitised view of war that we in the West seem to have evolved.
I would just like to point out to Kruger006 above that Lebanon has a democratically elected government comprising 50% christians and that the population is roughly 40% christian and 60% muslim. I suggest perhaps reading Wikipedia or visiting a library.

Its absolutely heartbreaking whats going on and its always the civilian that suffers, I'm aware that a jihad has been called against Israel and I'm worried that if more Arab nations start supporting Hezbollah that this could become very important indeed , Israel is in a precarious position in the middle of the Arab world it was given the best land best water supply and two of the most religiously significant cities in the world by the U.N in the 1945 agreement. Im sorry to say the Arab world will back Lebanon and god help Israel if they do because that will be a fight of years of injustice towards the Lebanese. god bless and protect the innocent.

I am an American and I am not and will not stick up for the killing of civilians, especially children, anywhere. Nor do I know any American civilian that will
I do have to wonder why the Lebanese Government has not gotten Hezbollah terrorists out of their country. My understanding is they do a lot of good things for the Lebanese people that the government couldn't do. Is it worth it? What kind of organization are they that turns a residential area into a place to launch missiles from?
My sympathies are not with Israel or Hezbollah. They are with the Lebanese people who are now suffering the consequences of a government with no backbone.

I agree completely. It's impossible for countries like the US to be impartial about this situation because Bush is bankrolled by the wealthy Jewish community, which leads me to understand why Muslims are so suspicious of the US in general. As such the USA should stay well out of all this because they are just making the situation worse.
As a Brit I wish Blair would build better allegiances with the EU of which we are supposed to be part of. It's not that I hate the US it's just that in situations like this I think diplomatic talks with Israel should exclude the US and be with countries like the EU where there is not such a strong Jewish influence so things can be much more impartial.
You can imagine that if atrocities like this were carried out by any other country other than the very Jewish Israel Bush would be sending out his military, spreading the good word about god, peace and democracy from behind a gun-barrel. It's amazing what you can get away with if you are willing to give Bush a huge wedge of cash.

Well if the Hizbollah were not such cowards by hiding amongst the civilian population the were would not be civilian casulaties. PLus all you forget, who do you think supports these terrorists, the civilians to begin with.
They kidnapped the soldiers, refused to release them, so israel hit back, then they launch rockets, so they hit back again, there is 2 sides to all this you know.
Bet al the left lunies life yourself would not be saying all this if you lived in Israel and you were the one unedr constant threat of attack. Remember how active the IRA were back a few years ago, 99% of uk wanted there blood.
True what has been said, people conveniently forget past history.
Plus people say why do we allow this to happen, basically it has sod all to do with us, it is there war not ours. Stop interfering in other countries policies, that is why so many wars begin

I just wonder why some people close their eyes to the truth.
Devil lives in Israel! Actually, they have this crazy belief that this land is theirs, even though their messiah hasn't come yet and they cannot claim it as their land until he comes. So technically, they shouldn't even be there. The only reason they're still alive is because the US backs them up. Otherwise, the Germans or the Arabs would have wiped them off the face of this earth. They're horrible people. They bombed hospitals, escape roads, airports, bus stations. They bombed civilians trying to escape in cars and buses, and they bombed a PREDESIGNATED UN PEACEKEEPING LOOKOUT! All that over two soldiers? Yes, I must admit that Hezb-allah is retaliating, but what would you do if bombs are being dropped over your head. You'd fight back any way you can.

The act is indefensible, as is the US and UK government's non-commital attitude towards Israel's actions. We should also condemn Hezbollah's bombing of Israeli cities too, and their hding amongst the civilian population of Lebanon, thereby making them a target. However, this does not excuse Israel's behaviour. If ever a people knew the suffering that a larger country could bestow on a smaller, less powerful people, it SHOULD be them.

What is wrong with everyone. Both sides in this war care only for themselves, ignoring the innocents on the other. Oh and for the people who say they should have left THEY BOMBED THE ROADS AND PETROL STATIONS!!! WATCH THE NEWS BEFORE YOU COMMENT YOU FOOLS!!! Yes the terrorists on both sides are wrong. If I kill a random person from another country it does not give that country the right to kill a random person from mine. Arent Israelis supposed to be religious? Murder is a sin. A killing that is not in self defense is murder. The Innocent children (no matter who they were shielding) were no threat. Hence they were murdered. Hence the Israelis should believe they will go to hell. Goes for the other side to. Im not religious though, which is why I have a moral code that I adhere to. It starts with no baby murdering and kind of works its way from there....

Part of your answer is in the article:-
"Israel's military said it had warned residents of Qana to leave and that Hizbollah bore responsibility for using the village to fire rockets at the Jewish state.......
Israeli warplanes struck Qana only hours after Hizbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah threatened to rocket more cities in central Israel if attacks on Lebanon continued."

I know what you mean! I am not just fed up with it... I am sick of it all! Ask yourselves... who are the weapons' distributors? Who are the war supporters? Who are the criminals killing the children and innocents? Who are the ones that are destroying schools, power plants, roads, shops, economy, houses...etc?
Now think again! WHO ARE THE REAL TERRORISTS!
I see a lot of people on Yahoo! Answers justifying the acts of Israel, and what they are doing... dont you see anything wrong with all this!!!! Or you just rather stay blind! Just think of it this way.... in the past, Hezbullah will kidnap soldiers and exchange them with Israeli army.... why was it THIS TIME that these stupid two soldiers equal destroying Lebanon as a country with everything in it! Killing its people, social life, and economy! ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! WAKE UP!
God Bless Lebanon
