Australian Aboriginal people have been marginalised since Europeans first came here.

They were not legally recognised as human being until the 1960s.

that is just 40 years ago.... not even a lifetime has passed by for most people since the legal recognition of Aboriginal people as human beings.

Aboriginal people in most communities were still considered as something less than human by many people even though those same people would not admit to that thought today.

Aboriginal culture has been outlawed, misunderstood, and denied for over 200 years.

It will take a lot of work in society before we can say that Aboriginal people are no longer margianlised.

When an Aboriginal person chooses to live in a traditional manner many other Australians believe that this means they should deny all benefit of european settlement.

When an Aboriginal person chooses to live in a european manner many Australians believe that this means they should deny all benefit of their Aboriginal culture.

When the day arrives that an Aboriginal person can choose how they want to live without others commenting on the rightness or wrongness of their choices we will have succeeded in eradicating the marginalisation of Aboriginal people.

When we see many Aboriginal people in politics, on television, in movie and advertising then we will see them as an unmarginalised people.
