There was this movie on TV a while back and it was about a group of doctors that shrunk and went into this guy's body. They moved around in this craft that they developed. The movie was made before the 80's, I think. Does anyone know what movie I am talking about. If so what is the name of it?

"Fantastic Voyage" Great Movie I think it was made in the late 50's or early 60's. It was a great movie, I still remember watching it in elementary when we were studying science. Although if I watched it today I may be more critical. There was an excellent remake made in 1987 called "Innerspace" with Martin Short, Dennis Quaid, and Meg Ryan. If you enjoy that movie you might like a 1985 film starring Ethan Hawke and River Phoenix called "Explorers". And on the same token, If you enjoy "Explorers" you might like "Invaders From Mars".

As many people believe, the appendix is a vestigial organ that serves no purpose. However, this is not entirely true. Apparently it serves as a storage area for "good bacteria" in case disease wipes them out in other areas of the body. (i.e. stomach after dysentery or cholera) Now, since diseases like these are not exactly rampant in this day and age, the appendix has lost much of its usefulness. Often what causes appendicitis is some foreign material (mucus or stool) will enter the appendix and harden. This blocks some opening in the appendix and the very same "good bacteria" begin to attack the appendix walls causing it to become inflamed. There are other causes that are unclear but genetics could have an impact as you say a lot of your family had theirs removed. You don't really lose much by having it removed because the appendix has become essentially a vestigial organ. Besides, if a doctor tells you that your appendix needs to be removed, you are better off listening to the doctor.

Fantastic Voyage is the one you're talking about...based on a book by Isaac Asimov. I think it dates back to the early 70s actually, and the effects were pretty good for the time.

I know Denis Quaid and Martin Short were in a movie called Inner Space but it was a military experiment not a Dr. Sorry not sure about that one.
