Considering that Greece makes most of it;s money from tourism (especially the islands..people work there for 6 months during tourist season then go back to the city) then yes it is "expensive" but not more than other places or less than other places...it all depends where you stay and where you go...

August is a crazy month, as this is the vacation month of the Greeks as well...this is the month they all take off from work and go to their respective islands and holidays...

Is 7 days enough? No way. A life time is not enough...LOL...if you're going to go there for a week, stay in one place so that at least you can get a taste of that place...

As for english being common...well you'll get around as most touristic places will master up enough english to help tourists...and many places hire english speaking people...there's always someone there that will understand you though...I would get a little greek travel dictionary though to make things easier...

It's very accomadating and people are very friendly! Enjoy it!

If 7 days is all you can afford, then just make the best of it...but you'll probably have to visit only one place...If you want to move around (let's say in the islands, it needs at least 2 weeks and can be expensive especially in August)...August is indeed the most busy month as both Greeks and tourists have vacations at that time...I don't think it is really expensive, nor that it is cheap...If you opt for September though, when the weather is still warm...the prices will be lower than August....

Everyone in Greece speaks English ... almost. Seven days is not nearly enough ... you will want to stay forever. Any and everywhere will be hot ... and beautiful. Try Mt. Pelion near Volos, or head straight up to Thessaloniki and drive along the coast at the very top of the Aegean. Greece is still very unspoiled. You'll have a great time. Being there makes even Italy and France pale in comparison! It is truly life at its best. My favorite island? Skopelos, hands down. And it's not expensive. Forget Skiathos. Good luck.

You can do a lot in seven days the question is what are you looking to entertain yourself with? The night life through Greece is spectacular. The historical sights are endless. The food will and culture will have you coming back for seconds and thirds.
The people are warm and loving, strange (in a Greek kind of way), helpful, then there are your occasional assholes. over all it is one of the best places to go to.
Depending on where you go, just ask the locals at a Cafe and they will lead you into the direction you are looking for.

Have fun
Greg

Hello dear!
It all depends on your will!
One time I visited Crete. I was there for 20 days and I could not visit all the places I wanted!
7 days are fine. You can get more than in a lifetime on other places. If you could extend your stay longer, you would do yourself a great favor!
It is a moderate place, regarding costs.
Most people can speak some English, while most youth can comprehend English!

august is usually a zoo because that's when greeks go on holiday, religious festival time. greece is relatively cheap, great quality food, wine, water, etc. visit the islands is better than the mainland and stay at least a month. depending onwhere you live delta has good excursion fares to athens, many islands you can fly to on olympic airways. englishis spoken in most places, although sometimes not by many, but you'll get by.
and if you take medicine, it is very cheap there adn better quality!

No 7 days are not enough, you will want at least a month on one of the Greek Islands. It is absolutely beautiful. English speech they will provide for. A little pricey, but worth it.

Is paradise expensive?
Well, Greece is a step above paradise, it is real and our spirits are not going there (like many believers hope), but has come from Greece!
If we need eternity to enjoy paradise, Greece can satisfy us for as long as we have! It is adorable! When you visit Greece, you return again and again!
