1976 (and I think, 1975) were both very dry summers, but I'm pretty sure it didn't get quite so hot as nowadays. By the end of the Summer of '76 all the grass was parched brown, trees were dying, and the reservoirs were so depleted that you could see the tops of the flooded buildings in the bottom of the valleys.

Then, the "old" Labour Government created a "minister for drought. Result: the August Bank Holiday was washed out, and it rained semi-continuously for months. The summer of '77 barely existed! Who said Labour wasn't working?!?

uffortuently i wearnt there then but i don't think this weather is warm because its global warming i think its just getting warmer anyway but the due to emissions of carbon dioxide and stuff it speeds it up due to the green house effect
but in some places its haqppening and some places its not in the artic and antartica the ice caps are melting but they get blue skys so the sun rays come through in richer countrys with industrial its happening right now even when its winter

they say this is the warmest summer since 1911, the hot summer then had nothing to do with global warming.

Yes It was very dry and there was very little green. If you don't believe in the greenhouse problem you are dangerously in denial. It wont go away if you just take no notice.
