about something that you can't do anything about, how do you get your mind off it and how do you go on with your life? What do you do to forget about it so that you can sleep?

I don't know, sometimes I add to my journal, or read a good book or even watch some mindless reruns or an old movie to get my mind away from something. Eventually you are going to have to deal with the issue, some things are easier to cope with after you rest your mind, and refreshen your outlook.

When you are tired, and you have been put through it, it's not a bad idea to rest both your mind and body so that you can make your decisions or do what you know you must after sleeping on an issue. That is why it's important to relax and try not to let worries keep you awake at night, the same worries will still be there, and if you are not at your best, then you may be less effective with dealing with them. If nothing else...WRITE IT OUT, then put it away and read your thoughts the next day. When you see what you have written you may realize that when you see the difficulty in the light of day with a clear head that you may be better able to cope and resolve.

I don't know, some people say warm low fat milk has some lactose in it that will make you drowsy, also turkey has a chemical that makes many people sleep well. So try to relax and save the problem solving for when you have a fresh mind.

Good luck, sometimes finding the right thing that works for you, can be difficult.

Wow, sorry you are gooing thru that, i have had that and it seems like my brain,, won't let go of it,
i have even stayed home from work cuz i couldn't concentrate.
Anyway, try taking a hot relaxing bubble bath, and soak, and think about something great, a memory, a person, a special day you had, and keep thinking about how special you are,

and then fantasize an experience that is positive that might
if it were real change the circumstances,
did you know that your brain can not tell the difference between an actual experience and one imagined,
so try to, no,,do it, imagine what you want,, and create it in your head, (IN THE TUB),, and it will help,

Now don't think take a bath, now.. no way,
if you really want to change the haunting thoughts , you must do just that,, so please try,,lite a candle put music on, and remember how importand you are,, and you will relax, feel good, and eventually send away the haunting little thoughts that nag you.

good luck,

This sounds like a lost love question.....
Been there.

You wake every morning, put one foot in front of the other, and carry on.

At night, you can't forget about it....it is there no matter what. You just do the best you can. You will eventually fall asleep.

You wake up the next day...and do it all over again.

Finally, enough time will pass and you will see that things do change...And one day you'll look back and realize it just wasn't meant to be.

You'll be just fine.

I get over this things in about an hour. I take a math book,(about differential equations usually). That's all I need to distract my mind.

Usually I go and do something active. It helps me. Something like swimming or running or anything that requires you to focus your attention on THAT specific activity. If it doesnt help, then try listening to relaxing music and really try to blcok out whatever you are thinking about that's bothering you.

It takes a few days sometimes, but I might write down my feelings in an essay. (In the past, I used to write music to get it all out.)

talk to a friend. write your anger down on paper. curse like a sailor...and then take a deep breath and remind yourself that your okay, that things will get better through time. and every now and then a screaming fit/crying fit is okay.

:)
