The rich do make the rules. Most laws are highly influenced by major corporations, they have lobbyists in Washington fighting to make sure that the laws which are passed are favorable to them. Very few politicians actually work to get the laws passed for the people, and even then they usually have their own agenda.

Sure, the rich make the rules, and the middle class are given a few extra crumbs to keep the working class down. So are we bought! Politicians, however altruistic they were when they went into the job, are leaned on by their party bosses to toe the line. They want to stay in government, and have power, so they do what is seen as safe. Keeping in mind their own financial future. They will only change when we force them to by getting together and making our voices well and truly HEARD. This won't be easy because the rich hold the purse-strings. So, the rich need to know that it is in their HUMAN interest to do the right thing by the rest of us. If only they knew how much their own lives were limited by the money and lives they control they would change. (I have to admit, some of them have "caught on" and are changing, but it's a pretty slow process!).
Sometimes I think that politicians don't take account of what we want, but I also think they usually have more information which is not for publication. (For instance, they might know that a particular government is pretty untrustworthy and they don't want to do business with them, but they're not going to say that publicly and cause an international incident, so they just apear to ignore our opinion. I'm not saying that is always the case though!)
And sometimes when I don't agree with what most people want,
I think most people don't know what's best for them!! :)
When Ronald Reagan was insulting the Soviet Union, I thought he was just trying to provoke them so that he could launch his missiles at them. (Thankfully they didn't take the bait!) but I have wondered since if he was just too stupid to know what he was doing?

NOPE! Its all about the money. Money is power and influence. No one cares if the politician is educated or right for the people they just vote for the sake of it and this just give a great opportunity to those who are rich to take it into their hands and pay for the one and only who will keep them rich, fat, and happy. Govt can give the least bit of anything for what a person thinks, unless you have alot of money to back it up.

Yes, people who live in Ivory Towers and who have no idea of how anyone else's is living. Who are making these rules and come up with ridiculous statements. The average income is $50 000, in New Zealand and we all know that's not true. They only give their constituents minor consideration until the next election.

Not the rich, but the super rich descendents of old familys set policy. Right now they're waging wars for resources all over the planet, against old families from other countries.
They're also responsible for the rehtoric that labels their opponents as terrorists, because your fear assures your compliance. Once they steal these resources, they inflate the price and sell them to us. Kinda makes you want to join the club, doesn't it?

Yep, money rules the world. All politicians, dems and reps, are wealthy and don't give a crap for anyone despite what their speech writers create during campaign season.

Why don't you run for office! You've got
my vote.

Other than that, try writing your congressman/woman
state reps., governors, president, etc. You have a right
to have your voice heard.

Well, that's the thing, money talks. The more you have, the more influence you're allowed to have. It sucks, but that's they way it is everywhere.
