To a previous question www.yahoo answered arsenal to who has won most european cups. yet arsenal have won zero euro cups, unlike liverpool who have won 5 and got to keep the trophy for ever, infact last year was there best ever in getting to the final. So really the gooners european pedigree is zilch. I remember they lost to a spurs/nayim goal in 95 cup winners cup final,so i doubt if they've ever even won a european trophy, am i correct / and does this make aston villa a bigger club as they have won the euro cup once ?

back in the old days when only the champions of each European country took part in the European Cup. the European Cup began in 1956 & until 1993, the European Cup becomes the UEFA Champions' League. since then, the format has changed to accomodate more clubs, sometimes up to 4 clubs from the same country, for example ENGLAND, SPAIN & ITALY.
Arsenal has won the Old Inter-Cities Fairs Cup (currently UEFA Cup) in 1970 when they defeated RSC Anderlecht of BELGIUM 4-3 on aggregate. In 1994, they won the now defunct European Cup Winners' Cup when they defeated AC Parma 1-0.
Arsenal nearly become the first team to defend the European Cup Winner's Cup when they lost to Real Zaragoza of SPAIN in 1995.
Arsenal qualified to the next major European cup final, the UEFA Cup in 2000, but they lost to Turkish club Galatasaray, 4-1 on penalties.
last season, they finally appeared in the UEFA Champions' League final but they lost 2-1 to the Spanish champions, FC Barcelona.
Arsenal could yet do it again this season, but it will never be easy.

The European Cup/Champions League was dominated by the likes of Real Madrid,Juventus and Bayern Munich. Moreover Arsenal were concentrating too much in the Premier League and were undone by six minutes of brilliance by Henrik Larsson in the final of 2006 in Paris.

Arsenal were never a big club , untill Arsene Wenger came. Liverpool, Man Utd, and many others have been rich clubs since 60-70 years back at least.Arsenal was an almost in-existant name 20 years back.I think they will start giving better performance from now.

Arsenal have won the european cup winners cup. They won it the year before that dirty ex spurs player, who should have been shot, scored that lob over Seaman. If i remember rightly Alan Smith scored the winner in a 2-1 victory over the italian side Parma.
