What I learned from my past ventures and so I recommend to those who have the entrepreneurial spirit:

1. Have the desire to mutually uplift the financial status of others by way of offering your products.

2. Offer products that you san support after-sales, besides having a high demand ratings.

3. Start the business with the lowest capital as possible but projecting high growth in the future.

4. Surround yourself with people who can help your business intellectually and morally (no, not necessarily financially).

5. If possible affiliate yourself with others who are already successful in your line of business (what I call a "cooperative competition").

I tell you, I found all of the above (and much more) after some years of trial-and-error in the business world simply by joining a Inc.500 recommended company, the GlobalDomains International.

The best routes to take are to research the process of starting a business as well as the industry you're interested in.

I recommend checking out the SBA, Entrepreneur, The Start Up Journal & Nolo. All 4 are great informational resources for the new/small business owner. I posted links for you in the source box.

Research, research, research – this cannot be stressed enough. Read as much as you can. Here are some book titles that are relevant:

prior to all... you have to have a business plan, then a financial projection or model. If you see that it is feasible, then start registering a business name, you business and other requirements. If it is a partnership or a corporation... you need a lawyer. You will need an accountant but some people do it on their own and just get an accountant when the tax season is near... mostly it is just book keeping and leg work. Well that is how we do it.

Compared to offline businesses, the investment required to start an online business is minimal. A popular way of earning money on the internet is by providing information and services. This can be monetised by advertising or charging a subscription. You can also make money online by selling products on auction websites like eBay or through your own website. you should have an idea what you want to sell.. a service or a product... if you want to sell a product you should first make contacts with manufacturers or wholesalers and get the best price you can... for a service business find personnel and equipment that will make your service possible.. then get loans from banks to start the business, look for a store or showroom location.. incorporate your self, come up with a name(a brand)... then market your self... put ads in news papers, have special, anything that will get people drawn to whatever your selling..
