A lot of people can't phatom that someone can be born gay. And a lot of the same people also believe that if a gay couple adopted a child, that the child would be gay too. It amazes me, lol. The funny thing is, straight people produce gay children. LOL!
If people actually sat down and talked to a gay/lesbian person, most would tell you that they knew as a child that they were gay or had thoughts about the same sex. And even had mannerisms pointing to them being a homosexual. If you really thought about it, the way gays get treated my society, do you think they would really want to choose to be gay? To know that people will hate you just b/c of who you find attractive? Im sure it can be a hard life. I don't think someone would choose that.
I have many gay friends, and all have known ever since they were a kid. And have told me, you think we chose this? Most of them said that sometimes they feel that the odds are against them. But im a fag hag, so its all good!!!

The predominant reason I see is that most people don't understand or accept the definition of "sexual orientation". They are taught at church, or choose to believe that as long as they don't "do gay stuff" they aren't gay. So in keeping with that idea they believe that "being gay" is a matter of "choosing to do gay stuff". Its not a matter of being stupid, but it can be a matter of ignoring facts and choosing not to be educated.

being gay is in the hormones its not by choice its how the hormones devlop but what most people forget are gay people are humane too and cant help being how they are there people that need understanding we dont make fun of a person with a crippling ailness at birth so why the gays

If you define it purely as a behavior, then it must be a choice.
There are also some who suggest it is an interaction between both. ex: Oprah.
As usual, we are steered towards seeing the otherside as stupid because we are used to being given simplified explanations for why people disagree with us, and readily take them.
The argument instead of being informative, instead is a stupid one over definitions of "gay".

I agree with you and I have seen and read where there is proof that being gay is not always a choice. Really why would someone knowingly choose to be something that will get them ridiculed, beaten or killed?

It's not a choice to be made..per say..that you fall in love...that's not a choice that you made..you don't say that "I will fall in love with this guy"it's not as simple like that..we can't control our emotions..when you feel something..you feel it..so being a gay is something that we can never teach ourself...I believe it's inevitable...

most of gays get out of the closet when they're pretty grown up.
so its easier to parents accept that his son/daughter turned gay that they actually were raising a gay kid.
