NEVER is a pretty long time, but if I had to guess:

time travel, because of the danger that sending just one person back in time who makes just the slightest alteration would cause. (But hey, we knew the potential danger of unleashing the power of the atom and created nuclear weapons anyway.)

and

the transporter like we see in Star Trek, because I don't see how we can scramble all of that matter and reassemble it at the atomic and subatomic levels.

But I don't know much about either of these fields, so I could be totally wrong here. And some of the technology we have today was once just science-fiction, too.

cars and other vehicles that run on water - for commericial use. This won't happend due to the fact, so many companies and corpoations would lose billions if not trillions of dollars. These same corporations wouldn't support the fatcats in Washington if it happened.
