when you delete anything, history, files, photos, anything, you are only deleting the pointer to the address space that the data resides in, until such time as the address space is written over. only by reformatting, rewritting, or hard drive failure is the data truely lost.

it vanishes, but someone could find it if they really know what they are doing. When Windows deletes something it does not erase it, it just marks where it is as empty and unassociates in until another write to the disc comes along whenever and writes in the "empty" space so someone with the right program could find it and patch it back together, but it is very hard.

It has been happening to me for about 2 weeks now. After being on the phone with at&t over an hour a few times.....I have the code to access my modem and restart it myself. I do this from the computer and not on the actual modem itself. It takes me 5 min to fix the problem....still annoying!!!

It turns into cybersmoke and disperses across cyberspace.Since cyberspace is not really there, deleted files do not pollute the internet. They simply dissolve into nothing.
