How often does she eat "a few spoonfuls"? Once a day? Several times a day? Once a week?
It is typical for a one year old to eat small amounts of food 4-5 times a day. A spoonful of one food can be a meal for her at this age. As long as you are offering her healthy foods (that means stay away from so-called "baby foods" in jars) and letting her decide which ones and how much she wants to eat, and she is healthy, growing, and developing (and *all* of these are important!!), you don't need to worry. Do not try to trick her into eating, and *especially* don't try to force-feed her.

Why dont you try some finger foods? I.e just give her a plate of different stuff so she can help herself and leave her to it, some kids become fussy because they become independent and want to do everything themselves. Try cutting out one of the bottles of milk and see if this makes her more hungry, if she still wont eat though start it again because this may be the only nutrition she is getting. Also try and appear outwardly calm (although inside you are frantic) she may be picking signals up from you that put the message across that mealtimes are meant to be stressful and so its not an enjoyable time for her, let her get messy without fretting or she will think food is 'dirty'. I suspect if she has always been picky then you have maybe always been anxious around feed times and this could well be your problem. She senses your anxiety and associates food with anxiety. Its easy for me to say but If she looks healthy and has plenty of energy then she is obviously getting the calories she needs and is fine. Children rarely starve they simply take what they need and its true what the say about 'they ll eat when there hungry !!Best luck xx

My little girl was the same she is now 20 months. Just keep offering her the food but nothing else until next meal is due and do this and in the she will realise you won't back down and you are the stronger one.It took me 2 weeks. No treats until she has eaten at last some of her dinner! Don't give her any of the things you have stated above until she eats proper food. Sounds harsh I know, when my Health Visitor told me this I nearly cried as I thought it was a type of abuse! Ask your health visitor if you are not sure. This worked for me. She is still a fussy eater but she tries most things. Try just giving her her milk at bedtime and for breakfast, that seems like too much milk to be feeding her as well as trying to get her to eat.

It sounds like she is ok. I have a 13 year old daughter who never really ate anything much until she was about 2 but drank loads of milk and she is really healthy. If you are worried about nutrition see the doctor or health visitor and they may give you some useful advice. I think your daughter sounds like she gets enough through the day, but try her with a range of different things and see what she likes rather than just giving her what you think she might like.
By the way, have you tried baby food? Its disgusting! The dried stuff is much nicer than the jars.

I guess, and I think so..and proved to me by some mothers that babyfood makes the baby or toddler picky on food.
Well try not to force her to eat.Especially now that she is walking and active and likes to play..and walk around..It is hard to feed her.But there is some little technique, tips I can give you...
>Give her nutritous food
>Put her on a high chair to feed her up
>Even if she is walking around, go close to her and give her spoonful, And sometimes she will be the one go close to you to feed her
>Give her some softbiscuit while playing/walking
Once she spits the food, meaning she ate enough for that time.
Hope this helps!

Also check on doctorphill.com he has some great advice on children that wont eat.

don't worry, as long as she is drinking fluids and gaining weight. ask your midwife/health visitor to check her over, just to be sure xx my daughter would only eat yoghurt's and bananas, but i just tried lots of different foods until she slowly but surely eats everything and is now nicknamed "ten bellies", she is still very slender. the best bit of advice i received was to replace her milk with water an that way she would feel hungry, but still give her 3 bottles a day , of milk that is xx best of luck xx

She is getting to many bottles. Cut her back to only 2 bottles of milk or soymilk per day. And try putting her milk or soymilk into sippy cups.
Her appetite is being satisfied with the milk or soymilk, causing her not to want to eat.
She will not be happy about losing those to (or more) bottles of milk, but she will begin to eat more solid foods. Plus, she will be happier and healthier.
