I am going to Calculus Class so I want to buy a Graphing Calculator so I want to buy the cheaper and brand new one. I don't know which one to buy, which one is better. TI 83 &84 is almost the same thing and why would I buy 83 why don't I buy 84, and TI 89 is too new and so much people don't know how to use....so if I buy it is too difficult for me in class. But I saw a store it is offer the TI 83. So I want to know about the price ......

So please tell me about the price and some opinion about which should buy.

i saw in the sale papers today that office depot has the ti83 for $75 after $25 mail in rebate. Target has the same calculator for $88 on sale.

The TI 83 is a really good calculator, and probly what your teacher will have. Try to get what the teacher will have because if you have one that is significantly different (such as TI 89), it will slow you and the rest of the class down when trying to solve problems in class. I have had my TI 83 Plus since I was a sophomore in high school, and I am now a college graduate getting ready to teach math. The ti 83 will do everything you need in calculus without doing all the work you need to know how to do for you (hence you will not become soley dependent upon the calculator).

In many schools they teach the use of calculators using a particular model. So ask the teacher who is going to teach you next year if this is the case with him and decide accordingly.

If the question remains undecided, buy the T89 and use it to explore. It will show you more of the wonders of mathematics and encourage you to progress.

ti 83 is the oldest model and the cheapest edition. however, i strongly suggest not buying a ti89. i've seen too many people become dependant on its ability to solve the problem for them, and they tend to get really screwed on tests and such. learning to do the math yourself will also greatly help you in college, where the math is harder.

If you have a little time before you buy it, check this link to Amazon.com. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00001N2QU/103-6796323-2816637?v=glance&n=172282

Good luck!
