I bought one for my son (age two at the time) - I don't really like them. Yes, they do help you to float, but because they are sewn into the suit, it makes the whole suit ride up to your shoulders if you are vertical. So if you are standing in the water and you submerge yourself up to the neck (or anywhere above waist level) you have these floating blocks pulling up on the crotch of the suit, because they are sewn in at waist level. Also, they are hard foam blocks; there is absolutely no give. So when they ride up, they are uncomfortable and unattractive. Do NOT waste your money. Get yourselves a couple of life jackets - they make them fairly thin these days, and you can take them off at anytime, unlike the blocks in these suits. Also, the link you gave shows that it costs $55 - I bough mine at WalMart for about $10, and I felt it was a waste of money.

Here is one that might be better for your son, but they don't come in adult sizes:

I think an adult wearing the suit would look just fine. I you are wearing the suit it will also help you to take even better care of you Son while he was in the water.

Thanks!

Well, I don't think you'd look stupid. If you can also swim too, then its your choice.
