I am 41 weeks pregnant (to be induced on Monday), but for the last two days, I have had some MAJOR menstrual-like cramps that hurt so bad I can barely breathe. They will hurt constantly for about half an hour, then taper off so that I have some space in between (but totally random times and length of pain). I can barely walk when they are at their worst. Sitting makes it hurt the worst, and laying stretched out feels better. Right when I think it might be labor and I need to go to the hospital, it stops. It only hurts at night (starting between 6-10pm). Does anyone know what could be causing this?

could be braxton hicks or just early labor that has no distinguished pattern. it could also be the baby's head trying to engage with the pelvis. since you are being induced on monday i wouldnt worry too much unless the pain becomes more regular then you should call your doctor. good luck and congrats!

It's probably your body getting ready for labor. Think of it as pre-labor cramps. Amazingly, when I was in labor it was just the opposite: I hated to lay down because it hurt so bad, but it felt a little better if I was sitting kinda hunched over. The cramping itself didn't hurt less, but it made my back feel better for some reason. But as they say, every person's different. There's a chance that they might continue one of these times and you'll actually be in labor fairly soon. Try drinking plenty of water to try and lessen the intensity of the contractions (which sometimes helps if it's real labor) and if you have a computer you can use nearby (like a laptop with wireless) try http://www.contractionmaster.com to time your contractions. It's helped me out a lot, and you can accurately see if your contractions start getting steadily closer together.

More than likely , since they start later in the night thats when ur laying down . Puts the baby in a position thats uncomfortable . Which causes the baby to move around ..making u uncomfortable . Braxton-hicks contractions , are very uncomfortable also ...Especially the farther along u are. Makes ur belly hard , tight , crampy. I would just be careful, keep an eye on them , u'll know if it progresses into something more serious .

False labor. The baby wants out! My cousin had the same problems. She had to be induced, and then she had to have an emergency c-section because the baby got stuck in her pelvic bone. There is nothing serious wrong, just that the baby wants to show his/her smile!!! Try not to worry, the wait will be over with soon enough! What are you having? Good luck and congratulations!!!!

Why are you waiting?? You are already 41 weeks, plenty long enough to have a healthy baby, and you are supposed to be induced on Monday anyway. Shoot at that point in my pregnancies i would have given anything to end it early, lol. Go in, sounds like contractions anyway. Have them check, and maybe you'll get to deliver just that much sooner. Good luck with everything!!!

Your body is getting ready for real labor. But you should call your doctor and tell him about this--a half an hour of constant pain doesn't sound too normal to me. Your baby could be in distress. Call your ob NOW.

Calcium and magnesium are meant to aid with cramping, probably you are low? You can get a chewable calcium w/ magnesium complement at a wellness meals retailer however speak to them, they might suggest you higher.
