I've used my recovery disk a few times to fix stuff on my laptop. Now I want to totally re configure my hard drive. Mostly because I thought that each time I've run the disk its mabe putting another version of the same things on my computer.Meaning, Im stacking extra stuff on top of or around the orignial configureation? I think.I dont know, Im kinda computer retarded so to speak. I do know that my performance has gotten very slow and I have done the basic things nessary to clean it up to no avail. Whada Think?

Would need a bit more information - What type of computer have you got - the reason even though you have a recovery disk there may still be a hidden partition on the computer that holds inporttant information _ (DRIVERS ETC BIOS INFO ETC)

When starting recovery - does it say Protected by PC Angel - Or Ghost

Anyway you will need to format your hard drive and also use the CHKDSK untility to check for any bad sectors

So you will need a start up disk so that you can get into dos - goto the link underneath

use the second link for a brief outline of the DOS commands - but I would only use the FORMAT and CHKDSK

If you need more help - enter the format and chkdsk in the search bar of MS

the best way is to reformat and do a fresh install of windows BUT you need the disk and COA or your screwed, and you will have a non working machine, it is pretty easy just google to get step by step instructions, but a fresh install is best and load SP1 and SP2 from microsoft website

Take it back to the store where you bought it. Reinstall the whole Windows.

Computer Slow

Download and then run startup.exe (FREEWARE) at:

http://www.mlin.net/startupcpl.shtml......

Can't live without it and windows...

Then disable and/or uninstall whatever u don't need.

Other things to try:

1 - Disk Cleanup (removal of temp files, cookies, etc.)
2 - Defrag
3 - Registry Cleanup (CAN BE VERY RISKY!)

ALL ELSE FAILS - RELOAD YOUR O/S (WINDOWS) AND THEN REINSTALL ALL OTHER PROGRAMS YOU NEED/USE!
