The water of the seas is useful and purposeful in many ways...

For providing an environment where all the living creatures of the sea can exist.
For providing a source for food to feed our hungry populations..
For providing a seaway and trade routes for ships to travel upon.
For providing the moisture that is drawn into clouds to be returned once again to mother Earth as rain and fresh water.
For providing the lovely beaches and sand that give us beautiful places to travel to and enjoy.
For providing the beautiful sunsets over the oceans.

And, for providing another source of fresh water as the salty sea water is treated using desalinization machines that removes the salt and makes the water fresh and drinkable and will supply fresh water to desert farmlands and places where fresh water never existed before.

And....for putting the lovely "blue" in the color of that big blue marble.... Earth.

Without the water of the seas, we would soon cease to exist.
Without the oceans, Earth could no longer be.

Yes, of course. Otherwise all those ships would just be laying on the ground and we'd have sailors drunk in the streets of our town.
