My 7 year old daughter is exceptionally smart. She took a test for the Advanced Learning classes. She scored higher than average on 4 out of 6 areas. The other two areas are not yet taught in her grade. She missed getting in the class by only 13 ponts on her IQ test and this may be due to nervousness. I was just wondering what the average IQ for her age is. She can read at a Jr. High level, do math-in her head- that's way ahead of her grade, write songs with actual tunes, draw exceptionally well, write stories with large words that only adults should be able to understand and solve logic games and projects. I was wondering if her IQ score might be wrong. The school she goes to pays more attention to who's who than individual skills and I need to know if she is being discrimanated against because of social status. If she is I plan on doing something about it.

IQ is not equated by age. It's a number given to show how quickly and aptly a person learns. It's the number that will stay with her for life.

An average person's IQ ranges from 90-110, with 110 being on the above average end, and 90 being on the below average end. The number ranges show different leves, with 150 being a genius IQ.

**Edited to add-

IQ tests are as much about getting the answers done right, as they are about taking a test well. If a person is stressed, the results might not be accurate. If you really are absolutely adament that your daughter was wrongly tested, or the outcome was wrong, then have her tested independently.

Don't rely on your own gut feeling, because every parent out there will sing the praises of their child, and (no offense intended), not all of them are entirely accurate on just how smart thier child really is. Get an independant test done. The results should not differ by more than a few points if the first test was accurate.

---Speedy, with an IQ like that, you really should take the time to learn how to spell and use proper grammar.

IQ does not depend on age. it is a relative measurement of a person's mental development compared to others of their exact age. an average person's IQ is 100 (by definition). a person much smarter than their actual age will have a high IQ.

for example, a 10 year old with an IQ of 140 has the mental development of a 14 year old.
