Good Question! Is it healthy for the chicken? Undoubtedly it is -- it is as healthy as any other 'food' for the chicken. Of course, it should be given the way chickens normally consume their 'food' (for example, feeding a chicken baked chicken is unhealthy). Bovines eat the left over placenta of their newl borns - that's an example of an animal eating a part of itself.

But yes, to us humans, it sounds and looks gross - but that stems purely from moral or aesthetic outlooks. It's very nutritious eating cockroaches - how many actually will?

Its probably not the *best* protien for the chicken to eat... but mostly, its just distasteful to human sensibilities. It would probably only be dangerous in that it could catch some chicken disease from eating infected meat, especially if brain or spinal tissue is involved.

Chickens are NOT vegetarian. This is normal behavior on the chicken's part. They will eat a lot of meats and I've seen them catch, kill and eat mice.

Chickens are normally cannibalistic if given the chance, however this can cause diseases to be passed so it is not a good idea!

No. That's how cows end up with Madcow disease a.k.a Creutzfeld Jakobs disease. It's also caused by feeding slaughterhouse animals blood, manure, and other waste.
