Single Occupancy means a room for one person, basically a small room for you only.

Double Occupancy means a room for two people, basically a large room for you and a roommate.

A Double Occupancy as a single would mean that you want a large room for yourself only.

So if you want to have roommates I recommend you check double occupancy...stating you want a roommate.

Typically, underclassmen live in dorms that consist of two or more people unless due to health issues they need a single occupancy. Single for underclassmen would consist of two people and double would more than likely be four people.

If you're an upperclassmen, then single would be an individual occupying an apartment college dorm style. Double would indicate two people.

In order to clarify the specific meaning the form indicates, I would call the admissions office or the office of student affairs for the college.

Single occupancy is a room by yourself. Take that, believe me you don't want to learn what double occupancy can do to you.

Single - 1 person
Double - 2 people

Obviously, it's cost effective to share a room but sharing a room, especially a cramped one, can be very interesting. Either you will make a new friend or a new enemy.

My roommate in college ate all my food, refused to bathe, stole my clothes and lost her keys (woke me up) about three times a week. I could not wait to move out after one semester. I wish I took more care in picking a roommate. It may have been a better experience. Luckily, they are not all like that.

Good luck to you!

It means 2 in the room max, not 3 as you wished for.

single means you want a room all to your self, so sounds like you want double

Single. You may get sick of a room mate.
