Depends how it's used. One thing is means:

When something is made of a lot of different units it is called modular. You may have heard of a modular home, it is a manufactured home, where you add all the rooms together to make a house.

A Module is one unit in something modular. For example in a
modular home, the bathroom would be one module.

A module is one part of something that has a lot of parts.

Another way it is used is by NASA. They call some of their space crafts modules. For example you may have heard of the Apollo Lunar Module. The Apollo Lunar Module was the lander portion of the Apollo spacecraft built for the US Apollo program to achieve the transit from Moon orbit to the surface and back.

But NASA is using the word the same way. It is called a module because it is a part of something bigger.

It means an unit or a cell. So when something is modular, it means it can be built up further ---like cells build up or grow. Example-a modular kitchen or a modular office furniture.
