Why can't people understand that you can be higher critical of Israel's foreign policy in regard to human rights and have nothing but respect for the Jewish faith. I just went on the Anti-defamation site to see what they had written about King Anti-Semite, Mel Gibson and his hateful comments towards Jews during his DUI, only to find it was a highly politicized site promoting Israel's foreign policy. Shouldn't the anti-defamation be concentrating on defamation against Jews instead? I find the logic of equating criticisim of Israel's foreign policy = anti-Semitism as absured as equating criticism of Bush's foreign policy = anti-Christianity.

“Anti-Semitism” is to Israël what “terrorism” is to USA : a political arm brandished to justify the unjustifiable

Israel is a Jewish state. The US is not a Christian country. It's just a country where the majority happen to be Christian. Criticism of the US is not anti-Christian.

It's funny, when people from the left try to shame extremists on the right for their more odious and self-serving policies and views, the rubric of "political correctness", an all too common pejorative, is trotted out to disparage the left wing criticism.

Yet, when criticism of Israel comes from the left the right is quick to throw taunts of anti-semitism, branding the left wing view as politically incorrect despite their abhorrence of the term itself.

It depends whose ox is being gored, eh?

Israel is a nation, like the other 200 or so in the world. It acts in its own self interest and, in doing so, treads on the rights of others from time to time. Some times they do so egregiously, as they are right now. When they violate international law they should be criticized and or censured for it.

Like everybody else.

If you condemn someone solely because of their race, ethnicity, religion or creed, then you are being prejudiced, bigotted, racist. However, if you praise someone solely because of their race, ethnicity, religion or creed you are still being prejudiced, bigotted, racist.

The difference is Israel is considered to be a Jewish state. The term Semite does not apply only to Jews. It applies to indigenous people of the Middle East commonly termed Arabs.

America is not considered to be a Christian country.

If you can ONLY see the "bad" things Israel does but then not also condemn her enemies for similar actions then yes, you or anyone one else would be anti-Semitic(It's a Jewish state remember?) . If you see EVERYTHING America does to defend it's self-interest as bad then you wouldn't necessarily be anti-Christian but you surely are anti-American. And if you're an American CITIZEN that criticizes EVERYTHING America does then you're dangerously naive. Dangerous to yourself and me, my family and country.

Yes, to be critical at this time, of George W. Bush's policy in the world and in the Middle East, is anti-Christian. It also, is terminally
stupid!

To answer your question; NO, the USA is not a religiously founded nation. It has no "national" religion and our laws are not solely based in any one religious faith.
To say those who bash the USA are "Anti-Christian" only shows how little you actually know about the USA and how it was founded!

RELIGIOUS FREEDOM = FREEDOM FROM RELIGION!

Our fouding fathers were admittedly DEISTS...but not all were "fundamentalist" Christians by any stretch of the imagination...

What's worse...is all too many Christians have vivid imaginations...except when it comes to actually behaving in a "Christian-like" maner.

Criticism of ideals, actions, words are one thing.... but hateful speech or actions in denouseing anothers faith, race, or creed is another. So no.... if criticism of Isreal is based on ones opinion that there deeds, and ideals are not you own. then the same would be true to criticism of the US.

pretty much... it seems like some people will say or do anything to keep from being criticized...

the conservatives have already picked up the "anti-Christan" thing... Coulter's new book is called "Godless: the church of liberalism" or something like that...

criticism is actually healthy... that's the weakness of the conservative party...
