of course a honeymoon...it's just that the honeymoon is the beginning of a new life..so if it is a really nice one, it would make u eager 2 stay more and more with ur beloved, but a ring is just an accessory which some consider it as a symbol of love...so however the ring looks like, it would be the same!

The honeymoon is more perfect than some chunk of rock on a metal band stuck onto my finger. I'm not even really a fan of diamonds. If I want a clear shiny thing, I'll get a crystal... Or I'll get a scotch on the rocks. Those are shiny, too.
What's really, really important though is sharing a lifetime of happy marriage with the person who gives you the ring and the honeymoon night.

Both. =)
Unless you can afford a a really high-quality diamond of good cut and VS1 or better (clarity = mega sparkle) I say go with a fake... as long as she knows.
Nowadays, you can get great CZs set in gold or platinum that look much better than most diamonds that the average newlywed can afford... and you can always replace the stone with a real one later - since the setting is real gold or platinum.
Or you can see about getting a genuine diamond online - I recommend Overstock.com or SmartBargains.com. You will save at least 50% off retail... and trust me, retail markup on diamonds is at least 75% per wholesale.
If you have to do a live purchase, dont go to a chain store, browse and BARGAIN in your local city's jewelry district, and make sure you do your research ahead of time.
Then have a FABU vacation... hit someplace that isn't cliché.
And don't spend a ton on a wedding to impress people, just do close family and pals... take that 20K and use it toward a downpayment on a home. :-)
Check the sites I listed... a couple CZ sites and some for a custom diamond... much cooler than the generics you get in most stores.

Wedding rings show that two people are connected (sybolically). They last longer than photos from a honeymoon trip. If you don't have a ring people will think your not married! Plus they are very pretty and romantic.

Honeymoon. Definately. Somewhere nice and romantic, and near the ocean.

The honeymoon is a life experience ....the ring is merely materialistic (whether it's platinum or sterling the sentiment attached remains the same).
