ABSOLUTELY! Unfortunately sometimes guilt or innocence depends on how good your lawyer is. If you can't afford a lawyer, and get one appointed by the court, there is no guarantee that the lawyer will do a good job.

Yes, Of course!!

Theres been alot of people released later after DNA testing concluded they wernt possibly the criminal.

..but, have you ever heard of Gitmo/Guantanamo Bay?

There is plenty of people in that prison/detention centre who never did anything wrong and are being held without legal counsel, a fair trial and everything else the founding fore father of our country gave us. They are deemed guilt until proven innocent and go straight to jail without a court case, obviously some of them are guilty but all of them?

I highly doubt that!

Yes of course a hell lot of innocent people are in the prison , but the reason for them to be there differs .
If u see asian countries where the legal system is very slow it takes years together for the case to end till then u wil have to be in prison even though u know u r innocent.
In countries where there is internal war going on u wil see the worst situation -people wil be just arrested & put up in jails without to case against them . No enquiry nothing. .
Its very common in asian countries like india (my country ) where u wil be arrested just as suspects & put up in the jail & it wil take even years before u atlast will be given atleast a chance to speak for u. .
NOT ALL INSIDE THE PRISON ARE WRONG DOER'S & GUILTY ;
NOT EVERY ONE OUTSIDE ARE ALL INNOCENT.

I MY OPINION THERE ARE A LOT GUILTY MOVING FREELY AMONG US THAN INSIDE THE PRISON.

JUST THINK OF THE BURMESE LEADER AUNG SEN , . . SHE IS IN HOUSE ARREST JUST BECOZ THE MILITARY DONT LIKE HER. .

THINK ABOUT THE LONG YEARS NELSON MANDELA SPENT IN PRISON JUST FOR THE REASON HE FOUGHT FOR THE DUE RIGHTS OF HIS PEOPLE. . .

THESE ARE NOT EXCEPTIONS ., BUT VERY STRONG EXAMPLES TO SHOW US THAT WHICH EVER MAY BE THE COUNTRY , WHAT EVER MAY BE THE LEGAL SYSTEM THE FACT REMAINS THAT INNOCENT PEOPLE DO END UP IN PRISON . . . LET THE REASON BE FOR TRIVIAL THINGS LIKE SUSPECTS OR BIG THINGS LIKE POTILICAL . .

Definitely, there is not a single justice system in the world that's perfect. If you were to design a system where no innocent people went to jail, many guilty people will be free as well.

Lots in China and the communist countries. There are getting to be less here but malicious prosecution seems to go at it just to get a conviction. It can be scary. But the jails seem full of "innocents". LOL

Innocent, not likely. Not guilty of the crime they were convicted of - maybe a few. The reason someone gets wrongfully convicted for a crime is because they got picked out of the mug shot book for that kind of crime in that city. They got into the mug shot book because they did that kind of crime in that city.

What I know is that there are people who don't belong or deserve being there... And other people in this world who should go to jail but they haven't been caught and/or arrested yet.
