My daughter is 3 months old and she's a bigger baby than my first child was. Anyway I have noticed she seems to have a yeast type of infection under her neck in the fold of her skin. Are there any natural remedies I can try to clear this up?

I should not have said the word "infection". It is a small red area under her neck. It doesn't seem to bother her, but it hasn't gone unnoticed. I am fully capable of knowing when to take my daughter to the doctor, thank you. This is not an emergency situation.

I would just like to add that using natural remedies does not have to be an all or nothing thing. There are times when a child shoud see a doctor and other times when a doctor just wants to take your money and write a prescription even though there may be a less expensive, less chemical, and less endorsed method of treatment (and by endorsed I'm talking about the free vacation the doc gets for every x# prescriptions he writes for a certain brand.)

yes as alot of people suggested pure corn starch powder the a&d brand is very good..... my daughter was born with colen (sp) problems she was born with hirshsprungs she had no nerves in her colen when she was born and at 5 wks they took 4 and a half inches out anyways after surgery she had the worst case of diaper rash that would not heal at all and we tried everything there is a creme the brand is eucerin and it is called auqhafor and after you heal it up with corn starch put that cream on there it is a protector promise it works wonders you can get it at wal-mart kinda expensive but works on any area of body. feel free to e-mail me just had baby who is 3 months and have lots of home remedys my great grandma has left in fact doctoring oldest daughter at home for boils with remedy

Well the best remedy would come from a doctor. They can prescribe the proper medication for her age. You should never gove natural remedies to babies. The dosage is hard to figure out. Stick with good old medicine until they can decide what kind of lifestyle they want to lead either homeopathic or docs.

This problem is most likely being caused by milk or formula dripping down and getting caught in the folds so to speak. My son had the same problem. Just make sure to keep the area clean and dry during and after feeding. Try a little baby powder to help soak up the moisture there. It's more of a rub rash then it is anything else. Like putting on half dried jeans and they rub your legs raw.. good luck!

Tea tree oil is supposed to be good against a fungus infection. I haven't used it myself, but I have a lot of friends who have. If it's really a yeast infection, yogurt will help, too, but tea tree oil is more effective. Keeping it clean and dry (but not cornstarch--it's a food that yeast will probably love to eat!!) is definitely in order to keep it from getting worse, but it *won't* heal it, and *no* ointment other than an antifungal is a good idea. Most of them work to protect the skin by keeping the skin moist--something that those little yeasts love!!

Balmex works wonders on rashes. I realize it's not a "natural" remedy, but it's the best.

The most important thing is to keep the area dry. Also, you can put the corn starch baby powder under there or diaper rash cream to help clear it up. If this is really an infection, you may need to take her to see a doc.

Most likely it is not a yeast infection. It might just be from milk running under her chin. Make sure you clean her up after every bottle and use A&D ointment on it to clear it up.

I agree with RYANS MOM...it must be from the milk hiding in the little rolls in the neck. Just be sure to clean it after each feeding. Use a cotton ball and wipe lightly.

cornstarch and balmex or desitin..Yes you are right it is a yeast infection...It is yeast growing in warm moist areas under their fat little necks..Both my boys had it and the dr can prescribe nyststin cream for it...If you have it for diaper rash it is the same thing..Just keep it dry and put desitin or cornstarch on it in the meantime..That should clear it up...
