It is an unfortunate fact that a college education is not a golden key to a bright future. There was a time when this was true and a higher education did mean a good chance at success. This was when there were a small number of graduates.
You will have to review your expectations and seek a job that is only a stepping stone. Your education will help your advancement in a company but choose carefully and have a plan for moving up. I don't know what your area of study is but if you have an arts degree or such you will need additonal training in a specialized area.

Wow thats screwed up huh? Well the only thing I can suggest is to post resumes' on many different websites (i.e. monster, craigslist.com) But keep your options open because u may have to move to another state or maybe even country. If u keep our mind open and your eyes wide open you'll land something in no time. You're just not using all of the resources available to you.
Get a professional to review your resume and see how u can reword simple words such as ability to complete many things at once use multi-tasking. Use words that ring a bell with employers. Get a hot resume' and start posting. Start with entry level and get the experience under your belt but last and not least those people did not lie they told you the truth you just gotta go get it cause it won't be handed to u on a silver platter

The answer to your direct question is that you were not, well, lied to intentionally. This very thing happened to my husband when he graduated with a degree in Sociology. He has made quite a success out of his life, but I must say his attitude is much more positive than yours. Here's the deal.
When our parents and grandparents went to college, the general feeling among employers was, "If he/she is bright and works hard, than he/she will move up the corporate ladder." That's how my husband's Uncle became a VP of a huge corporation and retired at 55 a millionnaire and now lives among movie stars.
Today, a college education has become pretty commonplace. Without one, it's hard to get a job at all (except non-skilled or minimally skilled jobs that pay very little). The attitude now is more like, "If he/she has a degree, we can see if he/she will work hard and consider him/her for a promotion. If not, someone else will have the degree and will get the promotion instead."
I assume your degree is in some sort of Liberal Arts area, like Sociology, History, etc. These degrees do not train one for any specific career, but CAN be a stepping stone to hundreds of careers such as Law, education...really anything if you go on for an advanced degree or obtain certification (as in teaching). Where your family was in error is that today college DOES open the doors, but now it is much more important to have a specific DIRECTION and get a degree in something that translates into a skill. It didn't use to be that way. Many people who are "out of the corporate loop" do not realize this, because it was different when they were out there.
The answer that stated that the degree will be useful to you in working your way up in a career was right on. You may have to get your feet wet by taking a low level position, proving yourself, and getting promotions or hired for better jobs based on your experience. As I said before, in today's job market, if you don't have a college degree, you won't be considered for some positions even if you work hard and prove yourself. In short, the degree WILL be of benefit to you if you are patient and allow it to be.
You need to find a job--any job--in a field that interests you, even if it is bottom entry level. Prove yourself, and you will see results.
I'm not going to dwell on your current attitude or state of health because it's been done already, but suffice it to say that you're making it harder on yourself.

Unfortunately, the times have changed and no one notified you. The good news is you can still create a situation that you can be happy with. The first step to doing that is to stop blaming those that told you that everything would work out for you if you went to college. I went to college for 12 years have a doctorate degree and make a six figure salary in a business I co-own and everything has not worked out for me. Every day I go to work I don't like it. Bottom line is you make your life what you want it to be. Stop pointing the blame elsewhere and take a good look at yourself and the choices you are making.

no offence, but all you're doing is feeling sorry for yourself. if things are as bad as you say, then they can't get any worse, now can they? i suggest you pick yourself up and start working to make your life better. go out and find a job, even if it's a crappy, low-paying one. at least you'll have it. start working out to burn off all the weight you've gained. start jogging around your block. once you start shedding the pounds, girls will probably be more interested in you. just go out there and introduce yourself to them. you won't be able to get a girl if you don't put a little effort into it. just be yourself. you'll probably start feeling less depressed when you're life starts coming back together. if not, go to a doctor and ask for pills to help with it. i know you said not to tell you to get help, but if it's really that serious you need it. trust me. i've been there.

it probably really depends on what you majored in. if you chose something retarded (anything involving liberal arts), then it's no wonder why you're still poor. you should have used your head and gotten degrees in engineering or science. as for being jobless and single, that's your own fault. it sounds like you spend a lot of time eating and wallowing in self pity and not doing something to set your life in the right direction.
no, despite what anyone says, there is no such thing as fate or destiny. your life is what you make of it. get up, start applying for jobs tonight. apply all day, every day until you get one. finding a job is a job in itself.
as for your love-life. no one is going to like you if you're depressed and fat. people pick up on that sort of thing. lose some weight, stop eating, and start acting like you're a success. get some confidence in yourself and people will treat you with more respect.
another thing to try is to not go for the classic "supermodel" chick. these women are usually horrific cock-teases and really have no interest in you or anyone who isn't brad pitt. try going for girls that most people would pass up. my experience has shown me that these are usually more devoted and willing to tend to your every whim than any of the "beauties." believe me, your life will be happier.
now get to work.

What on earth did you major in? English or History?
No wonder you can't find a job, let alone a high paying one.
