We often claim, explain and comment saying that the way forward for humanity is to make the poor, tribals, village dwellers and those less privileged better educated, skilled and informed. Yet, the reality around us contradicts this claim. It seems to me that the more educated, informed, religious, and skilled we get, the more cruel we become - in our speech, attitude, action, and life-style. Why is our world become much more destructive than to being more just, peace-loving, tolerant, accepting one another, and loving our neighbour as we love our self?

it's all ego and selfishness--the better the view one has of one's self the easier it is to look down upon others or see them as not a "special/important" as one's self. often, trying to help others is more motivated by the feeling that comes with being able to say "look what a good person i am by trying to help".... doesn't help that modern culture stresses the individual as distinct from and more important than the whole. ignorance can be bliss--a society that consists of people struggling to survive is more likely to be sympathetic to others as they can more easily envision the hardships of others. take away the hardships, add education and money, and more trivialities ensue as they forget what common grounds they shared. not that i'm against enabling others...more a commentary on our society instead....
