People fear what they don't understand which is why it's important to be exposed to as many cultures, religions, beliefs, etc. as you can. It will break down the walls.

Why are people always trying to be "different" and "rock the boat" instead of just fitting in with others? Race, gender and religion is going to be different no matter what, but it doesn't mean that people don't accept it. What people don't accept is when people try to go against the grain and argue with everybody in order to get their own way.

I think the whole world is prejudiced...even if you don't think you are..you are. As long as your'e raised differently, taught differently, and brought up differently, you'll always think that you know the right way or you're better than someone who wasn't because you're accustomed to that way of thinking or living. its just the way the world is and i think its gonna take a while before it changes. I have no problem with anyone who was thinks differently than me, it does not quite mean i don't think they're stupid

So many people don't like anything that differs from what they are. I think the more educated someone is and the more they are exposed to different cultures and beliefs the more accepting they become.

People find comfort in the familiar, like their home. When taken outside the "familiar" it tends to make people uncomfortable. Unfortunately, some people tend to handle their uncomfortable feelings badly. Then we have racism, sexism, discrimination and religious intolerance. Education and exposure are the best ways to eliminate ignorance and bigotry.

I think people don't accept people who are different is because they don't look or act the way everyone else does and they feel threatened by them.
