purse your lips and blow! kind of make them tight, and let a little bit of air come out.

I am in band but I play the clarinet. You'll probably need lessons. I do know that you "buzz" on the mouthpiece. Look up some sites on the Internet. Search for "trumpet techniques" or "trumpet embochoure".

like.. you're making a motor boat sound... where you purse your lips a little.. and they flap.. my dad used to pretend he was goerge jetson and made the noise like the spaceship they drove... lol. It might tickle and your lips might go numb a bit..it will be normal for the muscles to hurt around your mouth.. you wont sound good until those muscles develop. just take it slow. Trumpet is a very easy instrument to learn :)

You blow in it kind of how you make a *razzberry* with your lips. Press your lips together, blow out air and it should buzz.
