i met somebody through this site whom i have a serious crush on. and i mean a serious crush.
but though we met as a result of answering the same question here it took a few weeks of yahoo! messaging, and then a few more weeks of email until i realised this girl could be in my life for a very long time.
i don't think Answers itself is interactive enough to fully develop a crush (sites like Sparknotes are). but certainly you can begin by admiring someone's intelligence and go on from there.
in fact - that is almost certainly the best way to start; even in real life.

How can you fall for an avatar? Im asking this but I've seen it happen many many times in chat rooms. Guys are the worst, they scramble over each other to impress 'women' with badly disguised pictures on their profiles (usually stolen from amateur porn websites)
Im not saying people cant hook up on here, you might find someone witty or sensitive etc but for Gods sake have the common sense to actually talk to the person before you fall for a notion of what you want them to be.
Usually, I have the same impression of everyone before I talk to them (A big fat balding middle aged gay canadian trucker...choose your own!!) and then wait to see if they prove me wrong, it usually works.

sort of... I met someone from answers just through a casual message he sent about being in a bad relationship. We began corresponding with each other through daily emails and have been listening to each other rant about our ex's and other problems for a few months and just joking around some and now sharing our day to day activities through email and phone too. As crazy as it sounds it's not a crush but love. You wouldn't understand unless you have experienced an emotional attachment so strong it can't be explained but never once met in person

I've met a couple of nice people, one that I admire for nice poetry and one really special person who shares my thoughts and emotions on a daily basis...
It's always a lift to switch on the PC and find a message, and so very sweet when she sits up till 4.00am as if waiting for me to log on... (5 hours time lag is hopeless)... She makes my life right now..

No not crushes I'm happily married, but I have come across some people that according to their answers, touching, sensitive, funny that I wouldn't mind maybe getting to know them as friends.
