I think it can, if you are really feeling LOVE and not LUST at first sight. I met my fiance' almost a year ago, and I felt love at first sight, and even tried to resist it at first, but I couldn't. Eventually I had to hunt him down and let him know, turns out he had been thinking of me too.
Since then we have been through a LOT, both bad and good, but you know what, we have been growing closer and closer even through all the bad. So, if it is true love at first sight then yes, I do believe that it will last.
Even if it's "true" lust at first sight, I don't really see that as lasting very long.
All I can say is that I never knew it was possible to love someone so much. Every time I look at my fiance' I say to myself, "Wow, how did I ever end up with him? Is he really mine? Is this a dream?" And, again, we have been together almost a year!! I'll tell you, I was with my ex-husband for nearly 11 years, but NEVER once (not even at the beginning of our relationship) did I feel for him what I feel for my fiance' almost a year into our relationship. I tell you...I AM IN LOVE!!
So, really, there is no way to say that love of any sort will last a long time, but I SURE hope it does!!

it will only as long as it builds on something more substantial than looks. There is no love at first sight, because love is based on mutual respect and trust--something you cannot have if you don't even know the person's name. There is lust and attraction at first sight. Attraction at first sight CAN turn into love if you build a better base than looks, and therefore last. But lust at first sight will end when the sex gets boring.

Well, it didnt' for me... I met this guy over a year ago and were still together but on the verge of breaking up... It was a really rocky situation and the stress levels are through the roof...
Get to know someone first... It helps alot.

"Will last" is different from "can last."
I saw this girl, decided to date her, and 3 years later, I've been married to her for 2.5 years. Will it last? We want it to... so we BOTH work at being in love as best we can every day.
There is a concept called 'praxis' which is a fancy word meaning "you'll see what you want to see." So, if you both work to see the good and "fall in love every day", you can do it. It just takes work! Good luck, the fairy tales do exist, you just have to work at it to make it real. Dreams come true for those that continue to work at them (and this coming from a generally cynical realist!)

No. It ended for me last night after 3 months. You think you love them and you convince yourself there's every reason to ... the whole time you ignore obvious indicators of their true nature.
