AAA, because you can use rechargable AAA's all the time and have the option of using alkaline aaa's if you have no where to recharge.

I have no regrets buying a Sony rechargeable MP3 player. It can be quickly charged and has a longer battery life compared to a AAA battery. It is also cost-effective.

If the one that's rechargable has to be charged through software via your computer, I would go with the battery operated one and buy some rechargable batteries instead.
