I am currently in the process of remodelling my kitchen. I just bought a sink base cabinet with the following dimensions: Width:36", Depth:24", Height:34 1/2".

I am planning to buy a stainless self-rimming sink which is 33" x 22" (double bowl). I'm concerned that the 3 inch-difference between my base cabinet and the sink itself would not be enough to support the weight of the entire sink.

Should I forget about the 33" x 22" sink and buy a smaller size (25" x 22") instead?!? I'm so confused. I really need your help!!! Thanks in advance!!! =)

I assume this is a stand alone sink and cabinet? Go ahead and get the larger sink, your cabinet will hold it just fine. And, if it is a part of a counter where the top will extend beyond this cabinet to be supported by either legs, or other cabinets.... the weight is distributed to those also. I believe the cabinet will handle the sink tho.

Mount the sink to the countertop first, where it is easy to get at all the undermount clips.... and then simply use an extension on your screw gun to secure the top to the cabinet thru the corner bracing on the cabinet (you might want to drill a pilot hole thru the corner braces...make it easier to start the screws)

Have Fun!

The cabinet will support the 33x22 sink because the weight is spread out over the entire rim area of the sink. When you get the stainless self-rimming sink, be sure to check under the sink to be sure it is insulated. Otherwise some of the stainless steel sinks are very loud when water is running into them. The insulation is just a molded piece of insulation glued to the sink bottom. Good Luck
