Make copies! I almost always make a copy of a cd that I play often. Especially in the car. Everything I take to my car gets ruined.

As a change came from cassette to cds we were led to believe the durability the cd was superior. In fact it is not true in any aspect. To transfer music to cd frmat you loose almost 13% of the original recording. The other thing which you found out the hard way is they get ruined too easy. If you find you can't put them away...Make copies of your favorites and keep the original some where say!!!

Invest in a decent size external hard drive, La Cie's BIG Disk is a good one. 500GB for $280. If you have a lot of music this is the way to go. Download iTunes from Apple (Has the BEST mp3 encoders in my experience) and burn all your music to that hard drive. You will now have a permanent backup. Hope that helps.

Will you please explain exactly what you do to your cds that may possibly be ruining them? I have never had issues with any of mine. Is it that they are scratching? If so there is a tool that you can purchase that takes scratches off of CDs and help them play again. I got one at a Wal-Mart, I dont remember exactly what the name of it is though.

Burn the music to your computer and play it off there.

Either that, or get an ipod.

And if neither of those will work, just be more careful. Place your CDs in the case as soon as you're done with it

Put them on your computer as MP3's. Then whenever a CD breaks, you can just make a burned disc of it.
