the reason I am asking this question on the internet is that I live on an island in Alaska. Medical attention has to come to me, and unless its a life threatening emergancy, I must pay for the service myself. That is 1000,00. So, for your information I am very concerned for my child. He didn't hit his head today, just had physical, and blood sugar was great. It gone on for a couple of hours, but he is in great spirits, has a good appetite. And has been drinking water most of the day. Thank you to those had offered up real answer

If you are in a village, have you contacted the community health practitioner? Most small Alaskan Native villages have a person knowledgable in health issues that is trained in minor illnesses and injuries. Even if you are not AK Native, they might be able to see your child.
As long as your child is alert and oriented, didn't hit his/her head, is keeping fluids down, and seems to be doing well, then it doesn't sound like anything to panic over. Just keep a close eye on him or her, make sure he/she keeps on drinking fluids, and if it doesn't go away in a couple of days, or it gets worse, it might be best to see a doctor. You don't have to
call for an emergency medevac, just fly or drive to the nearest town with a clinic. You don't even have to make it to the big city. I think some of the smaller villages like Bethel and Nome have health clinics, and hopefully they aren't too far away. Have you considered calling a doctor and getting his or her opinion? I know that many doctors are reluctant to give out advice over the phone but if you explain the situation, they should understand.
Hope this helps!

I don't know about panicking, but a trip to the ER won't hurt. It almost sounds to me like low blood sugar, but there's many other things that could be causing it. It's better to be safe than sorry and have a doc check him/her out.

I think he will be fine....if he doesn't feel sick his stomach or diarhea or high temp over 105 he may just have a "bug". Most doctors won't even see a child unless they have one or all of the earlier mentioned symptoms. Baby him and give his some soup and crackers!!

Panic does not solve anything ,rather complicates things . You need to take your child to the doctor ASAP without panicking. He will be just fine.

You probably shouldn't panic, but take the child to the doctor. They will let you know if it is serious or not.

what it sounds like to me is that your child is about to faint. ask her if her vision is getting narrow like a tunnel and if things are getting dimmer. either that or she is having what is called a presyncope, or a near fainting. just wacth your child closely. if she faints do whatever you can to wake her up. get a cold rag a put it on there forhead. and just make her get up slowely after.

Have you checked to see if he/she has a fever? With this heat wave going on could be heat exhaustion.

Get him/her to the docs. This is the age that is common for menigitis. It could be nothing but it could be serious. It may be from the heat or it could be anxiety.
