I've been around "famous people" all of my life, I wouldn't want to ruin any confidential information. They're all just people.

I can tell about meeting Charlie Daniels. I was in college working on the concert committee, so when he came to do a show at the university gym, I worked with his crew all day long. These guys were from the south and I was enjoying their accents all day long. Now, if I'm around accents it doesn't take long for me to pick it up. Well after the show, I was getting tired from working all day, my director told me that C.D. was signing pictures for the crew. I didn't want one because I'm not a huge fan (the man did do an excellent show though) but then I remembered my brother had paid to see the show. So I hung out as Charlie signed pictures for all the other crew members. Then I was last. He seemed very tired. He asked who he should sign it for, and I twanged out, "Would you sign one for my brother, Bill?"

OH MY GOD! It had come out in the southern twang that I'd been hearing all day. I was humiliated. Charlie didn't say anything, but I felt like a moron.

Don't laugh.

I met Richard Simmons. Our friend works for Broadway Cares and we were at a Bear Auction to benefit the organization and he was the host. We met him prior to the auction.

I also met Bernadette Peters at another BCEFA function and Sandy Duncan at the Stormville, NY flea market. She is good friends with this same friend and she was there selling crap from her house with her husband Don.

Hugh Jackman or Puff Daddy. For soccer fans- Mia Hamm (through playing soccer myself). As fot the first two- what can I say? New York City is an amazing place, and has magical randomness to it. You never know what is gonna happen or who you will run into.

P. Diddy was an asshole. But Hugh Jackman was extremely nice... and sexy.

Niel Armstrong, the first man on the moon. My cow ran away from my barn and ended up with Niel's cows in his pasture. I saw the cow there and went up to the front door and knocked. He came to the door and we talked about the cow. I didn't realize who he was until the next day when someone from work told me who lived there. He is a very gracious man.

I also had my picture taken with Jimmy and Mrs. Carter in front of their church in Plains. My father gave a prayer there that morning in church. He is also a very gracious man.

Well, I met Lionel Richie last Tuesday - won a radio contest, so my daughter and I went to KOST 103.5 along with nine other winners and the crew of KOST to meet Lionel. He was amazing - so friendly and warm. He encouraged everyone to sing and dance along - he stayed almost two hours - and was just the best. I loved his work before, but I love him even more now! I'm am definitely buying his new CD when it comes out September 12!

My daughter has met many famous people - when we lived in Las Vegas, she went to school with David Cassidy's daughter - and went to his house one evening along with lots of other kids. She was chosen by her Journalism teacher to go to a taping of Wheel of Fortune and report on it for the paper, and she met and interviewed Pat Sajak and Vanna White, and was introduced to Merv Griffin (she didn't know who he was). At her job at a gift shop, she was the lucky cashier who helped Wayne Newton and his wife with their Christmas shopping one year. She's met Dr. Phil and his wife, rode in an elevator with Wade Robson (choreographer), and a good friend of hers is a personal assistant to Celine Dion (but she's never met her herself). She is truly lucky when it comes to celebrities.

trent reznor of nine inch nails back when i was going to kent state. went into a local joint alone, said "hi" to this guy by me--no clue who he was, just being friendly--and got a lecture on people harassing him. when i finally got a word in edge-wise and explained i had no clue who he was, got another lecture on how important he is. someone has some insecurity issues going on...! (but i guess it worked--i started listening to his music out of curiosity--maybe it was just a gimmick?)

my sister once elbowed montgomery gentry (country musicians) out of her way at a bar not knowing who they were. evidently they took it nicely and apologized for blocking the area.
