with the nasal congestion, perhaps an ear infection? sometimes it hurts when they lay flat. I would suggest letting her sleep in her car seat. It will keep her at an incline and help keep pressure off the ears and help the sinuses drain. maybe give her some infants tylenol. take her to the dr. asap if it continues or if she gets a fever. good luck

Just remember this to shall pass I know it sounds lame but in five years you won't even remember all the sleepless nights. My 6 month old twins just started sleeping for a 5 hour stretch at night boy has it been nice! I put them to sleep on their tummies even though I know you are not supposed too this seems to help alot as they do not startle so much.

Try white noise.Static from a radio station the vacuum,a fan,a C.D. of sound. She could also be gassy or have colic.Make sure she is not swaddled too tight. Is her room too hot maybe? She might also have a cold or allergies.Don't worry, this will pass soon enough!

Sorry, but couldn't help laughing. My son did the same thing and I would run in his room thinking he was bleeding or something bit him and he was just startled. It take a little while for babies to get used to the outside world and it will get better. When she does this just calmly pick her up and comfort her.

she could have dreams, but its more likely that shes having seperation anxiety, seperation from the mothers body, from your bedroom, does she have a night light? could you play very soft music in her room. go in there and look at things, is there anything in there that could cast a scary shadow or look scary in the dark or partial light? maybe she has gastric distress, you didnt mention her age, you really need to state these things in every message as new readers for your questions pop up all the time.

My son sleeps on my chest when he acts like that, sometimes they just need to be close to you.
