Yes. Your sister's sexual orientation should not affect how you think about her. Homosexuality is not a choice, it is how people are. If she is just out of the closet, it will be important that you show that your feelings about her haven't changed because of this and that you are open to who she is.

How old are you? No I don't think it would be okay to be a lesbian because your sister is one. First off if your sister jumped from a ten story building would you because she has? Sweetheart you need to talk to your parents. You sound a bit confused and I sense that you look up to your sister a lot. Most gay people I know have many factors that caused them to like the opposite sex, therefore they aren't gay because someone else is. As before mentioned talk to your parents or a counselor, and good luck.

Why would someone choose to be a lesbian with all the judgement placed on them? They have yet, along with gay men, to be accepted fully into society. If you are asking if you should love your sister and treat her normally, my answer is treat her no differently and love her enormously because she is going to need it. I believe that some people are genetically designed this way and we need to stop thinking everyone should be hetrosexual. In a perfect world, with PERFECTLY designed genetic bodies, we would all be hetrosexual(?) But this is not a perfect world and we have some beautiful people that have a bunch of different genes telling them that making love to a person of the opposite sex is just not appealing (actually disgusting). So, should they spend the rest of their lives completely unhappy, lying to themselves and others because they want to make everybody happy? Also, just as in races, there are good and not so good people. Let's not confuse sex preference with being a good/bad person. Is your sister a good person? That's what the question should be. I'm not gay or lesbian, but if I were, that would be who I was, no apologies.

Lesbians aren't bad people, They just have different felings toward there sexuaility. If you feel being a lesbian is what you wanna be, then go ahead. Thats your personal life and no one has a say in it. Keep in mind, You'll have to answer to God someday and he knows everything you and and that happened to you. Good-Luck

It is ok for your sister to be a lesbian. She can't change who she is just as you can't change who you are.

It's perfectly ok for her. It's just not that every woman is a lesbian or should be.

Its legal, hurts no one, is part of who she, and presumably she is happy, is so why worry? I have gay and lesbian friends and wouldn't change them for the world.

yup
. it willl take time for the family to come to terms with it because they had ideas of what a 'normal' family should be. they thoguht she would get married to a nice man and have babies with him. she oculd still have the babies.
she is still your siser. and if you love her yu will accept that nothing about her has changed just because she told you one thing about herself that you never knew before.

A persons sexual preference is just that... Plain and simple.
If she wants to love another woman and have sex with another woman that is her choice.
