i have checked and even installed a cd rom that I know WORKS. Both the dvd-rom and cd-rom are still not able to run... Plug and Play recognizes the drives......What do I do here

you must set the jumper on the back of the cd drive in comparison to how you have it hooked up.

most newer PC's you can set the CD/DVD drives to CS (cable select) but on older models you need to set the first drive to MASTER then the second drive to SLAVE.

Try changing the tape from cd-rom to mother-board.Also check to make sure it is hooked up properly such as power, etc.If you have both a cd drive and a second as burner.......one is the slave.By pressing F2 on your keyboard you can see if it is registering.I hope this helps you.Make sure the drivers are loaded for the cd-rom etc.
