The girl that would babysit just turned 14. She would watch my two boys (3 and 8). How much per hour for a couple of hours, also how much if it was when I would work a full day (8hrs)? Thanks

I think I should start babysitting. She is my niece and very responsible, I should add. Are you guys saying $10 for both, $5 each an hour?

Usually, a babysitter is paid $5/hr at the least. But if she's babysitting all day, I think about $50 an 8 hour day is valid + whatever expenses she might need (like if you ask her to take them to get lunch or rent a movie, don't make her pay for that stuff - obviously). 2 kids you might want to give more than the $5/hr. I've gotten anywhere from $6-10/hr. Hope that helps you get an idea!

I used to pay $600 a month for 4 year old fifteen years ago for a learning center type of child care. I paid babysitters $5 an hour plus their food and any type of entertainment expenses. So, I gave them some really good perks, like go entertain them at 6 flags. Here's money for the kids, food, etc. and then, when they were done, whatever leftover if they had any they could keep plus $5 per hour and if they didn't have leftover that's ok and if they paid out of pocket, how much did you pay and here's $5 per hour more. But that was back when $4 was minimum wage. So, $1 more than minimum plus perks. Sometimes, I would take the girl with me to the salon and pay for her nails or something she never had had done before or go shopping with her (I don't have girls). When the kids got older, I hired college boys to help with afterschool tutoring and shooting hoops and keeping them out of trouble. Then, I paid them $8 an hour, plus fast food takeout. I also helped them by editing any essays that they had to write for college classes and I know that editing costs about $20 an hour, so I thought that was a good trade. I also helped get them scholarships with essays that they wrote and I edited. You kinda understand what I am going at...pay, priviledge and perk.

How Much Do Babysitters Cost

When it's for a whole day (8 hours), I negociate with them - between 30$ and 50$. If they took a Babysitter course + cpr and they have a certificate for it, I usually give them more. Per hour, here, it's now between 4$ and 6$ cdn.

7 to 8 bucks an hour. It cost the same no matter how long she watches them for. Just b/c she is 14, you shouldn't try to pay her less, she is still providing a valuable service. Would u pay the Gardner less if he was younger? Some people pay more to have there lawn mowed than to have their kids watched, I am sure this is not U, but please keep in mind, your kids r important to U, if U want her to take this as an important job, U have to pay her something respectable, you know?

About 5-7 dollars and hour is reasonable, and if she needs more then offer her to do chores around the house like vacum or wipe the fridge down. That is what my aunt does with me and the plus side of is that you get a clean house on top of it.
Good Luck!!!!!!
