We, as rational adults. including our President Bush know that Iraq will never ever become a democracy. Iraq's new constitution partially based on their Koran. Religion can not be separated from Iraqi's politics and daily life. Their women have no freedom or a choice. Their PM, Mr. Al-Maliki is a fanatic Muslim who feels that he has to kiss Ayatollah's hand in Iran to be blessed. Iraq will always be pro Hezbollah and Iran. All above factors negate the meaning of Democracy. Do you really think that Bush did not know all of this? or is he that blind and idiot?

Here's my prediction...I'm looking into my crystal ball now....AHHH..here's the answer your seeking..... The USA is trying to establish a democratic society in the land. For there own goals, But the ball tells me that soon as American troops are pulled from Iraq the country will be overthrown by insurgents and it will have another dictator...only worse than Sadam... and will be after the USA again, then team up with Osama to form an alliance.

It is already, depending on who you ask.
The real question is whether our involvement will end up aiding or hurting them in the long run. If you follow the historical model for how these things work it will probably end up being Civil War -> Anarchy -> Dictatorship -> Revolution -> Democracy. How long each of these periods will last is hard to say.

Really, can you name a single Arab government that is a democracy?
I didn't think so. The closest is Egypt, but it's a far cry from the USA model.
The highly sectarian nature of Arab society is probably a factor in preventing democratic government from ever really working in that region.

That's the $64,000 question. No, in my opinion, Iraq, at best, is a theocracy. Try changing that. You might as well try converting a Jehovah's Witness to Satanism.

why don't you go over there and ask them for yourself? quit being a pansy and do something about it besides complain. I happen to know first hand that the people over there definitely want a democracy. it is the extremists everywhere throughout the world that mess everything up.

There will be "semblances" of a democracy (that is, as Americans think a democracy should be), but it will be their own doing, and it CERTAINLY won't look like American democracy.
