im 36 weeks preg and dialted 1.4cm i was just wondering is there anything i can do to dialte faster and how long is it possible to stay dialted the same has anyone had this problem before?

I was dialated at a two starting at 23 weeks, and contracted all the way until i delivered at 38 weeks. I spent 13 weeks fighting not to have him and then - with the dr ok - at 36 weeks was desperate to have him. I tried everything, but it still took an extra 2 wks after I was off meds to go into active labor. i'm afraid the baby comes when he's ready.
I've heard it said walking, nipple stimulation, and sex help, didn't work for me though.

You need to go until your at least 37 to 38 weeks. Nature will takes it's course and birth will happen. If you end up going to 40-42 weeks, the Dr. will want to try inducing labor, first by rupturing the water sac. Then if that doesn't do it, the Dr. will induce with meds like oxytoxin. Any form of induced labor is very hard and very painful. Let nature takes it's course and it will go much smoother. If you haven't gone into labor by 39 weeks, you can try sex (have an orgasm) or go for walks.

With my first daughter, I was dialated @ a 2 for about 2 weeks priour to her birth. My doctor told me to walk, walk, walk. Also to try having sex, making sure that my nipples were being stimulated. I know, sounds strange. But I found out that the stimulation causes the body to release the chemical that causes contracts. Best of luck & congrats!

I heard castor oil helps...........taking a few spoonfuls. I'd do a little research on that one first. I would not have sex, beacuse if you're dilated you've probably lost the mucous plug and could risk infection. Try walking, that's probably best. And relax. It will happen when it happens!

I was at least 1 1/2 cm for almost 3 wks. You dont want to have your baby to early but if you want to go into labor walk alot, take car rides and go over railroad tracks, go over bumps etc.
But your baby will come when he/she wants to come. I wish I would have dialeted all at once LOL

you should go to the hosipital though. not run but start going there....are there contractions? how far aparet? I suggest go to the doctors and see what they think... when you dialte it is ur body getting ready to give birth..

I think you should just relax and wait for it to happen naturally, the closer to term the better for the babies lungs to be fully developed. But if you really cant wait, walking is ment to be good. Good luck!
