1. ALWAYS remove a hot battery. They will explode (slightly) otherwise and be ruined

2. Get a battery tester--either from your phone store or a good camera shop. Be sure it can test your battery type.

3. Read your manual on how to charge, how long to charge and any other pertinent information.

4. Study your type of battery for its chemical makeup. One type has a memory and has to be totally drained before recharging has a FULL MEASURE affect. The other type doesn't have a memory so you can recharge at half-discharge and get a FULL MEASURE recharge. I forget the two formulas.

5. ALWAYS have a spare battery to use while you are charging your primary one--IF it is removable from the phone. If you have a 'drop-in" charger that takes the entire phone, you are screwed to be mobile with it until you get the battery recharged.

Mine recharges in about six hours -- which is the usual amount of time I sleep, so when I see the display showing weak, I plug it in at bedtime and remember to unplug in the morning.

IF you leave it charging after it is full you will shorten the life of the battery. Better to unplug it once it's full.
