if i were you i would just go with a breed of gecko. leopards are the most popular but there are TONS of geckos to choose from. they are one of the most easy lizards to take care of (aside from a chinese water dragon, but they are very fast and grow to 4 feet long) and the geckos dont grow very big at all. just read up on an instruction manual for the lizard u want and and have fun. they are kinda like little dogs. they need affection...but not too much as the lizard can become stressed and die. also DO NOT KEEP UR LIZARD ANYWERE AROUND A STEREO OR TV. the vibrations and noise stress them way too much. i lost 2 lizards that way not knowing. so dont b like me. read as much as u can about the lizard u choose.

good luck and have fun

Leopard geckos are good for starters. They don't require greens and don't eat that many crickets, depending on the age. One leopard gecko can live happily in a 10 gallon it's entire life. Bearded Dragons are also good starters, but a little bit more on the expensive side. Babies and juveniles can eat anywhere from 30-100 crickets PER DAY. Adults only need around 30-40 a week at the max. 40 gallon breeders suit adults and juveniles well. Iguanas I don't feel are very good starters. They tend to get a little more aggressive and need more room as they grow.

Whatever you choose, make sure you do LOTS of research!!

It is according to your age. If you are very young, a swift, a skink, ar a whiptail lizard is good. o are geckos. They will let you hold them if you handle them carefully. Geckos won't be as bad to try to run off and leave you if you are gentle withthe. If you really want something soft and cuddly, try a cat or dog. Lizards are not usually very affectionate, although seldome you will get one that is. Most of them can run very fast. A chamellion would be expensive, but they move slow and are pretty tame. I have never had one of them, I prefer iguanas and agamas. Neither are easy to raise and require a lotof time and effort. They are not beginners lizards.

OK I USUALLY DO NOT DIS OTHER PEOPLE WHO POST BUT AN IGUANA IS THE WORST FIRST REPTILE TO HAVE AS A PET. THESE ANIMALS REQUIRE ALOT OF WORK THAT EVEN I AS A ANIMAL LOVER AND RESCUER DREAD. THEY REQUIRE A DIET WITH NO PROTEIN AND 30% FRUITS AND 70% GREENS, A HEAT SOURCE, A BASKING BULB WITH UVA AND UVB, AND SO ON... THEY TAKE ALOT OF TIME!!!
BEST FIRST REPTILES TO GET ARE

~AUSTRALIAN BEARDED DRAGONS
~LEOPARD GECKOS
~DUMPY TREE FROGS(WHITES)
~PAC MAN FROGS

I WILL ADMIT THAT I AM IN LOVE WITH BEARDED DRAGONS. IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR SOMETHING THAT IS OK TO HANDLE AND COMES IN A BIG VARIETY OF COLORS THIS IS IT!
THESE ANIMALS HAVE COLORS RANGING FROM BROWNISH TO BRIGHT RED, GOLD, ORANGE AND YELLOW... THEY ALSO COME IN PASTELS LIKE PINK GREEN AND EVEN A KIND OF LAVENDAT COLOR. THEY ARE CALM AND WELL BEAHVED HERPS. THE FIRST ONE I SAW WAS SO WELL BEHAVED I THOUGHT IT WAS A STATUE! THEY ARE PRETTY SIMPLE TO CARE FOR AND HARDY TOO. ONE OF THE PEOPLE I ORIGINALLY GOT MY WILDLIFE TRAINING FROM USED TO CALL THEM THE REPTILIAN GOATS BECAUSE THEY WILL EAT ALMOST ANYTHING!
READ UP ABOUT THEM BEFORE GETTING ONE AS WITH ANY ANIMAL AND I AM SURE ONCE YOU GET ONE THIS WILL BECOME A VERY ADDICTING BREED OF REPTILE TO HAVE. I MYSELF HAVE 3 RIGHT NOW, A GOLD PHASE, A SNOW PHASE AND A TIGER x ORANGE GLOW GERMAN GIANT(THESE ARENT AS BEHAVED AS REGULAR BEARDIES, NOT A GOOD FIRST BEARDIE)
GOOD LUCK AND I HOPE YOU ENJOY YOUR PET.

an iguana..we had 2 iguanas before and it just stood there for a long time without moving...AT ALL..lol but they're vegetarians. Only eat carrots and lettuce and other greens. We replace their food once a week...we take em out of the cage everyday and play and bathe them occasionally
